Well DJ E Im a Tampa native and have been to Fantasy Ranch,Cosmos,Liquid City and just about any club you can think of around there.First I have to tell you that Tampa banned all late night clubs awhile ago, theres only one now in St.Pete called the Patinum Vault but there gonna shut this one down to.But if your thjnking about a regular club thats only open til 3a.m i gotta tell you you'll have alot of competition. If your serious try to get hooked up with MARS lighting co.and try to get hooked up with Painted Puppy productions, they have alot of good DJs that usually draw crowds. Painted Puppys always moving there shows around to different clubs, likenow they do it at Masqerade in Ybor City.I hope you have some serious money cause thats what it's gonna take. But good luck to you and i hope you succeed,we need a good new club around here!

Yea well never been to a Tampa rave. New to the area. But I've been to some in the North. They are phat. Maybe someone could set something up for people to e-mail request letters to organizations like "Columns of Knowledge", "Raversonly", "Spiritual Emporium","Square One Productions ", "Drum N Breaks", "Kingsize", "Playground Productions" and organizations like them. They have some phat raves posted for other states on the webstie www.raversonly.com . Maybe people could e-mail to 'smoke' he is the webmater for raversonly and try to persuade one of these groups to start having some raves in the Tampa area. Maybe if not in Tampa because after ours clubs are band, but maybe a little out of tampa so its not too far for raves to get to. I mean I am dying down here for a rave. I am in withdraw. So get on the ball people! Just my suggestion. Maybe we can get a good rave going, "The New Beginning"! That would be a good name for a rave for this area if the idea works. Feel free to e-mail me back if ya want. And if anyone got any more suggestions for the board, post them please!!!!

i just moved here from la and im an ex promoter, a lot of shit has to go in to throwin it.for a good quality party it could take a year or more to get it organized.i dont know how it works around here but you got to find a venue first, contact the owner a talk them into lettin you rent it out for the night, tellem you have a clean up service(really get one lined up for afterwards)and they will probably want a contract.next is the big thing money, unless you got lots of it you gotta look for an investor, some promoters will get everything line up before they have the money, but that is dangerous business.then you have to get your permits, the fun part.you gotta have a fire marshall come out and inspect the place to see if it is safe and hell tell you a capaity number.try to keep an accurate number,we had a party busted because we couldnt prove how many people were in there, and the cops will be there on your ass on the night of.next you gotta gey the sherrifs office to approve, and last before you take it up to the city council you have to get an approved securty company to provide the securty for the night.you gotta book all the djs, witch can be a pain, expecially if you want good qualty djs,the best we hade to spin for us was taylor and we hade to book 9 months in advance and we were lucky we got him.and u have to promote to the max, drop flyers every where, all other partys,dj shops,be real with it though, dont go promoting where the wrong crowed will come and start shit. well theres alot more if you got more questions drop me en e mail. peace

You are all idiots, except that cat from LA

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2001

yomomma has a point. LA seems to be the only one who's got knowledge on the way this shit worx.

but whatever.. if you get a club up and running, don't turn it into another break/house club! we need a good dnb/jungle, or even a hardcore/gabber club.. n when that happens.. look me up.. http://www.mp3.com/ecftsrecords...

First off...starting a good latenight in the tampa bay area is joke. Alot of small places are popping up but they never last!! The cops and the city fucks are on us like stink on sHit! I was a resident at the aftermath in clearwater for awhile before they closed. Originally before they opened that was going to be a latenight!...3 days before they opened the city had a final vote and changed the ordinance back to 2am. That should have been the next hot spot after Fantasy 2 shut down. In closing.......there will NEVER!!! be another ( FANTASY RANCH )....BOAT YARD.....PARTHENON.......and 2 take it back even more old skool.........HAMMERJACKS. The whole scene is different now. My best advice would be too rent a warehouse or find someone with some land...it can be done:) Check out VEGAS in seminole..(i think)..possibly myself, dj cello& dirty whiteboy..liquid funk productions)..and possibly mike sorrentino....those guys are some bad MO-FOES......:)...Mon,Tues,Wednesday....Id like 2 see that wednesday- night (Turtle Club )again ....!!.......Sincerely, ME inc.

I think if it could be done it would have been done along time ago. Other big cities have them every weekend. But Florida has all the fucking snowbirds and the fucking goverment dosn't want our state to be known for drugs and hurt tourism and their pockets. They would oppose to the permits. Then again the money hungry bastards might give in for the right amount of dough! If anyone can find a way or if you need help let me know! WE ARE DIEING FOR A FUCK'N REAL PARTY IN THIS LAME ASS TOWN!!!

I'm a promoter and club owner from London (Club 9, Ministry of Sound, Maison Music now co-owner of V recordings with Jack Frost), and am now swingin' a few things in St. Louis...I recently went to Tampa and Jackonsville then down to Miami. None of those towns are sayin' anything with D&B...and I mean real drum & bass, not the jump up cereal packet, casio keyboard bollocks! It's a wide open market for a rave or funky intelligent D&B club night....anyone got any ideas, florida contacts then email me...looking to do a thing in April, 2003. I'm open to all suggestions, partners...co - events etc. jonesb33@aol.com.

hey i just moved here from maryland, and man the scene up there is great, not much is happenin down here, so if anyone knows where a good party is in Tampa please email me.

-- Anonymous, December 28, 2002

if you are seriously down with throwing a party and you got 30,000 i will hook u the fuck up bro and then you have to get a one night party licence wich is an extra fifty g's or maybe more down here i just moved to clearwater about a two years ago but other then that you have to book the dj's and the fire marshall has to tell you the max capacity in case of a fire ya know then you have to get about 12 g's for the ticketing company then about five more g's for the flyer if you want to be cheap about it but they can be really expensive also you have to the best insurance in the world and a security team and a sound company, cause i said i would cover you on the lights just to be nice but security and and a sound system will be about 50 g's so if you can afford that i will hook u the fuck up just like i said

what's up ppl, somehow I stumbled accross this message and I just had to say it's so nice to hear from some of the old schoolers around here that remember places like the Fantasy Ranch and Turtle club! I have some great memories from those places, I used to work at Turtle club and it makes me sad when I drive by and see how they compltetly tore it down. I also remember that standing in line for hours at the Ranch was worth every minute. I still have 2 VIP passes that were given to me by one of the guys that used to run it, Tiny. It is also the place where I met my boyfriend and we have been dating now for 4 years. I dont think anyone could actually duplicate that place but 2 things that helped, one it was a booby bar during the day and the location was perfect. The other thing that I think helped was the fact that it was next to Dollhouse and all the girls would go strait there after work, which brought in the crowd of sexy ppl. That always helps get ppl in the door. I wish somebody could just by the old place and fix it back up Even though the last sign on the bored stated: the Fantasy Ranch is closed forever!

hey dogg, I'm a tampa native and have been in the scene for just over 4 and a half years. I've been to raves all over the world since I was in the navy and am a promoter for double o spot productions. they're the ones that put the raves like love fest together. Anyway, I agree with a couple of the other guys in that opening a club here in the Tampa area would be great, but nearly impossible due to the competition and the cops. However, there is a rave coming up on April 25th in Panama beach. Naturally, it's called the Panama beach rave. It is an annual event, and double o spot is one of the sponsors. anyway, I'm not in the navy anymore and I'm back in tampa, so if you have any questions, concerns, or even suggestions, please write me.Take care, and good luck. Look me up at the rave if you go, just ask for masta P, or Tripple P. either one, I go by both. Oh and just so you know, the best raves I've ever been to were in europe, england, australia, and Hawaii. Later

Hi there, tampa bay, if anyone needs some help organizing a RAVE around here, I'm all for it & willing to help out. I ran a few raves, back on the west coast " Portland, Seattle, San Fransisco " but I have just moved out here, where I do not know anybody, so I have plenty of time. If you are ready to start something, drop me a line, and I will be more than happy to help.

to hell w/ the whole idea. Frst, T-town is full of people who try to look pretty and go out and drinking their trendy coctails while bobbing their heads to some kinda break trying to look important. With that in mind, noboby wants to open their eyes to all the diffrent styles of dance music than's out there and the culture that is PLUR. Hell, the only drum and bass we ever hear comes via stateside collective. As a crew they represent but it's just another example of what's wrong with the bay......people don't go out looking for new and exciting places, they want what is known and what's comfortable. Ybor has nothing but hip hop and breaks with the occasional band playing in the clubs that's it. This town is just way too clicky and not open too new faces and ideas. Certian promo groups run this place not allowing room for any competition or up and comming talent. The idea is great but like others have said before me it will never be like the old days in down town tampa. -ONE-

andy dolan you are a fucking idiot. There no way in hell i would give you money to throw a rave anywhere. dude the type of money you are talkin about is like saying you wanna buy a personnel yacht or something. $30,000 cooommmee onnnnnn!!! (we want to make a profit here not go bankrupt) and the rest of the money i can print flyers nice colr high gloss ones for around fifty bucks for a 500 copies.. idiots like you need to stop posting stuff on the www. Everyone this man is a fool.

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2003

iss neva gonna get crackin til the hate dissapates. The whole scene is tainted with who's idea is what. Just feel the rhythm without the substance. it'll happen if we all just go support whats on and rockin. Much luv to those involved from mid 90's on....a seed was planted, and juss needs osme prunin. oNe.

Ya'll are sily. This message was from 1999- and people still manage to find a way to post. Stateside Collective over here - 7 years and still reppin' DNB. Since these posts have been on here for 5 years, Imma add mine for the future.

:) - We've been throwing shows(or if you want to call them raves) since 1995. Things have came and gone... The music's still there, just no scene.

It's up to yall to make it happen, though ironically, most of these people probably aren't even into this music anymore, because it's a passing phase for most....

My favorite post here was the we need 50,000 g's to throw a party, and 5 g's for flyers. That was AWESOME.

I'm a huge fan of techno music, especially from germany and all over europe. I Live in the Tampa area, and I have never heard of a rave going on. EVER. It'd be a really fun experience to go to one, feel the music, play in the lights. And it would be even better if they would feature some of my favorite bands, such as VNV nation, apoptygma berzerk, and daft punk. ^_^ If anyone is going to start up a rave, EMAIL ME!!! or else I'll be one uber upset lil chicklet! thnks!!!

We at the Digital Rapture have been working with some Stateside Collective/Force members for a while trying to get a DNB scene back into Tampa. We just recently threw a party on July 3rd at the old Pleasure Dome with Evol Intent. Its a constant struggle, but the parties are there. Like Bamboo said, the people aren't supporting the scene any more, or just aren't interested in the music any more. But that won't stop us from doing what we love. Take care all. PLUR

for anyone who wants to start a tampa rave ....it will NEVER be like it was in the olden days. goin back to hammerjacks, outter limits, 911, parthenon, ozone, fantasy ranch, boatyard village, yada yada yada ...things have changed for the worst, and there is no going back. as most people around here know, a few years back, there were too many people od'ing from g or whatever, and what really scared officials was when one of my friends died at an after hours club in downtown tampa (cant remember of the club name right now). but anyways, she basically was on a bunch of shit and fell back and hit her head and died later. made the news all over the place, and that was basically the end of REAL late night. if youve noticed, there really arnt the BIG events in the state anymore like Zen. this area and most of florida has gotten fed up w/ beanheads n the like ruining events that are intended for music. so i thin it is very unlikely that a true late night could happen again, but the best of luck to you. if you want, im sure paul can help you out as far as info (www.djsantana.com). he is a long time dj in this area and has spun just about everywhere. anyways, thats my piece,

The name of the club was "The Warehouse", Florida Ave. right down the street from CREAM. The girl was hitting a balloon of nitrous and I was sitting about 7 feet from her hitting a balloon of nitrous too. I thought to myself "that's not really smart, dancing and hitting a balloon at the same time". the girls name was Stephanie I think. I was rolling my bawllz off and talking to her about 15 minutes earlier. In retrospect, I witnessed the death of a beautiful young girl at the same time I witnessed the death of a beautiful young rave scene. The girl is more important. But both are tragic and sad.

-- Anonymous, October 06, 2004

I was reading everyone's responses to the Tampa Rave scene and I agreee it's tragic when somebody isn't aware of their surroundings or the risks involved with the drugs they are taking OR mixing (that's how BAD things happen). However!!!! I am here to request some guidance. I'm dying to meet with people who share our lifestyle and like to hang out after hours. I missed out on the Fantsay Ranch days but had a chance to go to some ridiculous house parties where the DJ's from the clubs showed up afterwards to spin. I've been away from Tampa for a couple of years and thus out of the post "rave" X scene. BUT NOW I'M BACK and ready for a quality get together. Anyone interested feel free to contact me by email!

-- Anonymous, October 15, 2004

staypuffin -

you are correct. she was doin nitrous right before she fell back and hit her head. the fuckups she was with, just put her in the back of a car after she hit her head to "rest". well, because of thier irresponsibility, she is dead. oh, and if it helps any ..her name was kelly. she was way too nice for her own good and the fate that happened to her.

-- Anonymous, October 15, 2004

oh ..and i think the name of the place was the studio. two drug dealers basically ran the place and it got shut down real quick!

-- Anonymous, October 15, 2004

That's awful about Kelly. I appreciate you getting back to my email earlier. I'm going up to clearwater Oct 16 to visit some friends that live near the beaches. Probably going to try Liquid Blue...its close. I'm still looking to find a party if anyone's down. by the way....set your minds at ease, I'M NOT THE POLICE! lol..some of you might be a bit paranoid (understandably). Look up my criminal record for confirmation ;)

I have been in Tampa since 1997 and partied with the best. I got busted by the feds in 1999. I'm free now and have seen AV-O2, the casino, Groovy Mule. Nothing seems to be going on. No one looks like they are rolling. Alcohol seems to be in. The music is alive and kicking, just nowhere to listen and party to it. I'd love to be a part of a movement to get something going. Late night is going on. We just need to revive it. We've been repressed long enough. Keith

I am a 15-year-old raver and am looking for some serious events. I have been raving for a few years now and would like to show what I can do, but have no idea on how to get started or who to contact. Would love to hook up with a few sponsors or promoters to promote raving JUST for the love of raving and music. Please help me get started. Would love to hook up with other ravers also, as long as they are legitimate.

Well, as I'm sure you've all heard AV 02 got raided this past weekend. They arrested 24 people & the owner is facing a max of 20 years. He bailed out for $200,000 & also agreed that he would shut down AV 02 as part of the deal. This is a tough blow to the Tampa late night scene, however this has been expected to happen for a while now. All the late night clubs that I knew of (starlight, red alert, etc.) have all been shut down a long time ago. I think that tampa needs a late night club, but in order for one to stay open it would have to follow 2 major rules set by Tampa Police. 1. - No Cover. 2. A Drug Free policy. If a owner finds out about someone selling in his club, he must take action. With the new federal law that was passed, even if an owner dosen't have any part in the drug dealings but knows about them & doesn't take action, he can still get in big trouble. I for one would not have a problem with a club like that because I rather have a couple strictly ruled late night clubs than none at all. You guys let me know what you think about this situation.

-- Anonymous, October 26, 2004

Thats too funny reading your posts brings me back to the days I use to frequent all those clubs I started in 92-93 and remember all the clubs mentioned above, starting from hammerjacks. My favorite clubs I would have to say were Ozone that place was a fucking dungeon I remember being in there till the wee hours of the morning and leaving with sunlight hitting your eyes as the doors opened. Paratheon was cool I remember it getting raided one night and watching prodigy live on another night or maybe it was the same night not sure was way to blurry back then. Anyone remember the old DNA or the orlando spots like Firestone and Ozz. After all that got shut down I started going to Ybor to Luna Lounge that place was tight back in 95-96 Brad smith would spin on Saturday nights and we would make him play another song even after the club closed at the end of the night. I think we should get all the Old schoolers back together for a true night of drum and bass, breakbeat, house dancing in Tampa again. I'm down

Nice Represent Tampa style

Lookin at all of these posts brings back kick-ass memories! Cream, Studio, Boatyard... Santana, C4, B-Nice, etc... Well, like the other posts, nothing will be the same again. After Platinum Vault, there was nothing left. I have looked all over Florida for any kind of event, even close to the ones of the past and nothing compares. If anyone knows of anything coming up, anywhere in Florida, please drop me a line.

-- Anonymous, November 20, 2004

steve -

agreed, ozone definitely had the best vibe of them all. i too started @hammerjax when i was underage. nothing can match the energy that place had ..not to mention the rolls were better then, back when i actually did them (wafers ring a bell???).

i was also @parthenon the night it was raided. i remember going through downtown and seeing a whole parking lot full of cops and saying .."something is going to go down". bout 30mins later i was standing outside and saw all the cop cars heading to the club. it was funny cuz the next day in the paper was a picture of a girl i used to date being handcuffed on a cop car.

otown was nice for big events. firestone was good for those and on sunday nights if i remember correctly. but yeah, for some odd reason i liked ozone the best. it was a crappy lil club, but for some reason i always was there til daylight. hell, during its peak i was there 3 nights a week. great people, nice staff and the best dj's. i remember when keoki was in town spinning @ masquerades, but he showed up @ozone ...well, he was carried to the dj booth. paul (santana) started spinning in the front room and the owner made him stop cuz most everyone was in the front room and no one too see keoki. ***sigh*** good times!!

If anyone knows the two people who owned Red Alert in Tampa (Jeff and Dom I think) those are the guys to talk to. That was the best club I have ever been to. Any thing goes just dont die! It didnt last for very long but it was great. The only place I have seen like it was club Fabric in London. Those were the days but now the cops are all over it so good luck!

Florida still has so much talent. Its a shame no one is willing to take more risks for the clubs and scene like they did in the old days. I remember boatyard! That was as underground as it can get. I miss those days. Why doesn't anyone open up clubs on the outskirts of Tampa, where the late night laws don't take effect? Isn't it just in Tampa? Hey Mikey B and jR sounds like the good old days. Mikey B, did you know a girl named Carla little red head or a cat named george used to be the best dancer around there, another buddy named shaggy? Anyway, I think we should all at least decide to meet somewhere in Tampa for a throw back party at one of the clubs where a decent Dj spins I wouldnt mind throwing down a little it has been a while since I have heard good music. Actually, I heard Icey on the radio over at I think Ampitheater sounded real good. jR, I remember that night with keoki that was pretty funny homeboy was wasted.

The horrible part is they all bring up Kelly so sad I recall someone being brought into the booth a female and her friends were crying I want to say that was my last night at The Studio I remember I was like dam Why is this girl crying and her friend was past out sittin on the couch behind us early in the morning around 4 maybe 5 because I left not soon after and that was my last night there. Adventure Island was the best in the morning around that time we would have cars lined up waiting for it to open. I been lookin for speedy Devo or Brad anyone know? I am a raver, and this is my manifesto." Our nourishment of choice is Love. Our addiction of choice is technology. Our religion of choice is music. Our currency of choice is knowledge. Our politics of choice is none. Our society of choice is utopian though we know it will never be.

You may hate us. You may dismiss us. You may misunderstand us. You may be unaware of our existence. We can only hope you do not care to judge us, because we would never judge you.

We are not criminals. We are not disillusioned. We are not drug addicts. We are not naive children. We are one massive, global, tribal, village that transcends man-made law, physical geography and time itself. We are The Massive.

One Massive.

We were first drawn by the sound. From far away, the thunderous, muffled, echoing beat was comparable to a mother's heart soothing a child in her womb of concrete, steel, and electrical wiring.

We were drawn back into this womb, and there, in the heat, dampness, and darkness of it, we came to accept that we are all equal. Not only to the darkness, and to ourselves, but to the very music slamming into us and passing through our souls: we are all equal. And somewhere around 35Hz we could feel the hand of God at our backs, pushing us forward, pushing us to push ourselves to strengthen our minds, our bodies, and our spirits. Pushing us to turn to the person beside us to join hands and uplift them by sharing the uncontrollable joy we felt from creating this magical bubble that can, for one evening, protect us from the horrors, atrocities, and pollution of the outside world. It is in that very instant, with these initial realizations that each of us was truly born.

We continue to pack our bodies into clubs, or warehouses, or buildings you've abandoned and left for naught, and we bring life to them for one night. Strong, throbbing, vibrant life in it's purest, most intense, most hedonistic form. In these makeshift spaces, we seek to shed ourselves of the burden of uncertainty for a future you have been unable to stabilize and secure for us. We seek to relinquish our inhibitions, and free ourselves from the shackles and restraints you've put on us for your own peace of mind. We seek to re-write the programming that you have tried to indoctrinate us with since the moment we were born. Programming that tells us to hate, that tells us to judge, that tells us to stuff ourselves into the nearest and most convenient pigeon hole possible. Programming that even tells us to climb ladders for you, jump through hoops, and run through mazes and on hamster wheels. Programming that tells us to eat from the shiny silver spoon you are trying to feed us with, instead of nourish ourselves with our own capable hands. Programming that tells us to close our minds, instead of open them.

Until the sun rises to burn our eyes by revealing the distopian reality of a world you've created for us, we dance fiercely with our brothers and sisters in celebration of our life, of our culture, and of the values we believe in:

Peace Love Unity Respect

Our enemy of choice is ignorance. Our weapon of choice is information. Our crime of choice is breaking and challenging whatever laws you feel you need to put in place to stop us from celebrating our existence.

But know that while you may shut down any given party, on any given night, in any given city, in any given country or continent on this beautiful planet, you can never shut down the entire party.

You don't have access to that switch, no matter what you may think.

The music will never stop. The heartbeat will never fade. The party will never end.

I am a raver, and this is my manifesto.

Wow, I'm amazed at the never-ending life of this post. Anyone know of any current raves or afterhour clubs in the Tampa area? After Starlite, Red Alert, & AV-02 have gone, I can't find anything. Is the Groovy Mule still open? Man, I miss the night life!

I live about 30 minutes north of Tampa, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find a party, nevermind a rave where I am. I will travel to Tampa though - and the closest thing I can find is in Ybor, but they have dress codes, rules - that sort of thing. There is never anywhere to go where you can dance and party all night without being bothered. If anybody hears anything, email me... PPPPLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEE!!!!!!
