The Egret is certainly under-exposed. Very difficult exposure...if you exposed for the egret, the already bright highlight in the water would be totally blown. Would a fill-flash help in this situation??

I don't agree with the above comment on the egret being underexposed. The beauty in this photo in the water and the egret is simply there to balance things up. The photo would have lost its taste if the egret is exposed correctly.

Wee Keng Hor sums up what I wound have been able to write. A successful image as far as I am concerened.

I third it! The exposure fits the image - I would not change a thing. A very nice simplistic shot.

Fourth, I guess :)

One tiny nit. There are two heads in the reflection, which is disconcerting. If you had waited a little bit, you might have had the wave crests past and gotten a complete reflection. Then again, the bird might have been gone!

This image would have been more pleasing to me if the reflection of the egret were more prominent. Otherwise, it is a nice example of the concept that there is more than one "correct" exposure for an given subject.

Bhaskar,

Thank you for your comments. I wanted to show an atmosphere rather than the details of the egret with this picture. I have many pictures of egret. The other pictures show the details, and the beauties of egrets. You might rather like the other pictures. If you are interested in egret, please see my other picturers of "egret in a lake" in my HP.
