What happened to my brain?

I am sure that just a few months ago I read that some DOD systems would not be ready until 2023.

Pentagon Confident On Y2k, Worries About Russia By Sue Pleming

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military is 100 percent ready to fight any Year 2000 computer problems that may arise but fears nuclear power Russia is not as well prepared, a top Pentagon official said on Thursday.

In an upbeat briefing about the Pentagon's preparedness for any Y2K computer glitches, Deputy Defense Secretary John Hamre was also confident other crucial U.S. sectors, such as banking, telecommunications and power grids would be ready.

Uh oh. Your brain absorbed and read the many articles and facts seriously portraying Y2K concerns at the beginning of the year.
The Govt noticed. Can't have *that* happening. Control timing! Corral the sheeple! Blitz articles with cartoons, ridicule, sudden good news: We're almost done! We're great! We're the Can-Do nation! Y2K no problem. How funny that people gave it a thought! Problem solved. Now forget about it.

Fly, it's okay.

Your brain, and most of ours, was just spin-zapped.

We'll recover before they will ... maybe.

Just consider 3 of the most advanced weapon systems:

These systems are completely computer controlled. Just evaluating the myriad of software systems on these platforms is a major task. Multiple languages, a "gazillion" embedded processors and a function which places the people on these things at high risk in the event of failure. The DoD will not get it done.

Sorry, R.D., but the Aegis combat system is compliant.

"Sorry, R.D., but the Aegis combat system is compliant"

yes and monkeys are jumping out of my ass.

y2k Compliant = assessed+remediated+tested+installed (includes entire infrastructure that system depends on)

y2k Ready = "fix on failure" or, who the hell knows.
