Y2K means no vacation for some

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

There's a recent "USA Today" article on vacations being cancelled by government agencies and businesses. A friend of mine in Cleveland E-mailed me recently, saying he had heard a TV newsperson remark that his vacation that included January 1, 2000 had been cancelled.

All aspects of Y2K seem to be heating up now. Here's the link to the "USA Today" story", followed by a quote from it.

Word is out among city employees in Denver that essential personnel could see vacations cancelled. The mayor issued an executive order to that effect, even though efforts have been underway since 1996 to correct Y2K problems. But city workers will be standing by if traffic lights fail, elevators get stuck, automatic doors slam shut, or other mishaps occur. "We're going to be on full alert," says mayoral spokesman Andrew Hudson.

Good one Kevin!

How employees will be affected depends on how spooked individual employers are by Y2K issues.

Or, how prepared. I suspect most the world will be on alert status by then.

Methinks they'll get a verylong vacation in 2000 :)

Lefty Deano - is your compliant company on the party of five?

Chris - I'm sure Adam has seen it but his pea-brain probably has difficulty processing it. Poor wibble misunderstood Adam.
