Maui is so beautiful. I was wondering how much it costs to live there. What is the price for a 3-4 bedroom home?

Have an extra $700,000 - $11,000,000, there's a list of about 25 luxuary homes for sale.

Okay, okay...

Need something more affordable?...mmmmmmmm, 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses from $177,000...That's not too bad...And it's only a 45 minute drive from downtown Honolulu---that is with no traffic. With morning or afternoon rush hour traffic, that should be about 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive.

(FYI, the average cost of a single wall construction house on about a 7,500 sq ft lot with 3 bedroom and 2 bath is approximately $320,000 on Oahu and about $220,000 on the neighbor islands.)

Near Kihei I saw tract suburb type homes with signs advertising the mid 200s. Most of these homes are 3 bedroom, 2 bath type houses. I saw the construction process, and they don't look like the highest quality homes. I've read that's typical do to the high cost of shipping materials out there, but the mild climate is forgiving on homes out there anyway. After all you could live there with no heat or A/C. There's a Home Depot being built on Maui, as well as a Lowes that's already open. Maybe the competition will lower the construction material prices. I also saw condos across the road from the beach for 125,000 - 145,000 in Kihei. Prices shoot up the closer you got to Wailea and Makena. The homes in Wailea started in the low 700s (going way up from there), with condos in the 400s. Of course all of the homes are luxury style homes made from concrete and stucco. All in all the homes were more affordable than I thought they'd be.
