Two different local newscasts ran stories this morning regarding Austin families that haven't received their Jan checks. One said the winter storm was delaying the checks in the mail. The other one said recipients could call SS and arrange for another check. (????? double payment?)

Are there any direct-deposit retirees/disability people on this forum whose funds are late? I'm curious if it really was the storm.

Both newscasts went into these people's homes-- one family had to hawk their VCR and the other one had both an empty fridge and pantry.

Also, someone on this forum mentioned their Military retirement statement was wrong for the first time in 15 years - is it fixed yet?

Funny.....Hubby's disability cheque from an Insurance Co. didn't show up in the bank account for the first time in 5 years. When I called the Co., the woman said they'd had a few problems last month, and would I wait a few more days to see if it arrived....

I'm resisting thinking this has something to do with the date rollover, but at the same time, I can't wondering.....

Went to pay my taxes yesterday and Lo and Behold, the clerk told me they would send me a reciept in a few days since they were having problems. This has not happened in 15 years. I smell a rat!
