David Letterman Joking about Y2k

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

David Letterman has mentioned Y2K on his show tonight while interviewing Mira Sorvina. Unfortunately, she didn't know anything at all about it, so conversation didn't continue there.

Cool to hear Dave at least bring it up!!! Did anyone else catch it?

Yeah -- I was hopeful when Dave brought it up, but then Mira showed no apparent recognition at all -- said she did not know what "Y2k" was.

On Letterman's New Year's Eve show, he was doing his top ten list, but had to interrupt it for the countdown at midnight. When he started the top ten list again after 12:00 AM, he couldn't get the next item he was taking about to appear after the number.

He then jokingly attributed the glitch to Y2K!

Interesting audience reaction to his "...answer to the Y2K problem....reboot." Murmuring silence and a few choked laughs. They either didn't get it or were too stunned. I'd bet the former. Even the self-congratulatory applause that followed was subdued and apparently embarrassed.

I think I'd feel better about it if those guys would pretty much just leave it alone. While you and I might be reduced to hysterics by the Gary South site (funniest thing I've seen on this issue)I'm not convinced it is something the great unwashed should be encouraged to laugh about.

Letterman is the most unfunny guy I have ever Tried to watch. How does he do it? (stay on)

Letterman is including a 2K "fact" every night on his show.
