Thanks for your help I found a good water filter

HI Thanks to the individuals that have advised me on water filters. I finally found one I want and I think is priced reasonably. I talked with the owner and told him I am a Y2K preparer. He said if they order one from him and mention the name "Duane" he would give the other Y2Kers a 5% discount. Cool! This is a neat and device and is very transportable. Here's the URL http://www.atkinsid.com/bottle.html

Checked out the site and it looked practical. Question: What is the price of a replacement filter? Thanks!

I paid $68.50 and $27 for an extra filter. Now that I think of it I didn't get my 5% discount :( Us his E-mail for additional information . I can see this will be excellent for camping also.

One side comment on use of the bottle. I would certainly NOT fill using the bottom of the bottle in wild water. Unless I was ABSOLUTELY sure the little top covering the mouthpiece fitted with a TOTALLY WATERTIGHT "SNAP"! If it does not, you have contaminated the mouthpiece with non-filtered water and have defeated the system!

It only takes ONE DROP of contaminated water and what you have drunk is contaminated. Why do you think the military in their instructions on water tablets ALWAYS said to slosh some of the treated water over the threads of the canteen before closing it??

Chuck, whose boss taught him this by bad example (HIS doctor bills were TRULY impresive, as was the size of the flagil tabs!)

Chuck, Thanks for the heads-up. I would have enever thought abpout it. That must be why there is a protective cap that covers the water output.
