Carlo, this doesn't quite work for me. The sea being out of focus might be a nice contrast to a sharply in-focus bird but the bird is a little to small to create that contrast.

I would like to agree with Michael. I do think that this image suffers from being displayed in such small format. I like the image, especially the birds position and angle.

I have to agree with the comments above. There also appears to be slight vignetting of the corners.

Ok, here is a new scan. Some vignetting is due to Sigma 400/5.6 I have used at full aperture (handheld and manual focus - not bad!). I like this shot because of its monochromatic effect. Generally seagulls' photo are a white subject with a blue background (sea or sky). Here all is grey (on my original ilfochrome the unique color is the pale orange of the seagull's billygoat.
