1999 Annual Forecast: A New and Dangerous World - another whitewash of y2k...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

This link is well worth reading for a global view of 1999.

http://www.stratfor.com/services/giu/daily.asp

SUMMARY * Russia will begin the process of recreating old Soviet empire in 1999. The most important question of 1999: will Ukraine follow Belarus into federation with Russia? * Russia and China will be moving into a closer, primarily anti- American alliance in 1999. * Asian economies will not recover in 1999. Japan will see further deterioration. So will China. Singapore and South Korea will show the strongest tendency toward recovery. * China will try to contain discontent over economic policies by increasing repression not only on dissidents, but the urban unemployed and unhappy small business people. Tensions will rise. * Asia will attempt to protect itself from U.S. economic and political pressures. Asian economic institutions, like an Asian Monetary Fund, will emerge in 1999. * The Serbs, supported by the Russians, will test the United States in Kosovo. There is increasing danger of a simultaneous challenge from Serbia and Iraq, straining U.S. military capabilities dramatically. * The main question in Europe will be Germany's reaction to the new Russia. The Germans will try to avoid answering that question for most of the year. * Latin America appears ready to resume its economic expansion, beginning late in 1999.

However, they have obviously screwed up badly - not even one mention of y2k.

I sent them the following e-mail, will post any reply.

"Hello,

whilst I normally highly respect your analyses, you chaps have seriously fallen down on the 1999 predictions.

Not *ONE* mention of the y2k problem???

I find this mind numbingly amazing... I am speechless.

Think of the military implications, monetary, trade.......

Why was this not factored in???

Regards etc."

Thanks Andy for this site. You are right about their y2k blindness but just tune in cnbc and all global economists are afflicted with the same disease.

Russia is getting ready to make her move in the geopolical endgame. But God who sits in the heavens laughs. See Psalm 11.

I read the Bible every morning for an hour. Especially the prophets to learn how God spoke to unrighteous nations and how I might be prepared for His judgments.

Today I read Zephaniah. Here is a portion of God's Word and for those of you who scoff at God and His Word, if you made it this far, just remember, you can always use your browser's back button:

"I will utterly sweep away everything from the face of the earth," says the Lord...those who have turned back from following the Lord, who do not seek the Lord or inquire of him. Be silent before the Lord God! For the day of the Lord is at hand..."

"The great day of the LORD is near, near and hastening fast...I will bring distress on men, so that they shall walk like the blind, because they have sinned against the Lord...Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the wrath of the LORD...for a full, yea, sudden end He will make of all the inhabitants of the earth...Come together and hold assembly, O shameless nation before you are driven away like the drifting chaff, before there comes upon you the fierce anger of the LORD, before there comes upon you the day of the wrath of the LORD. Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land...seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the wrath of the LORD." 1:2,6,17,18; 2:1-3

"Woe to her (any nation, but especially the U.S.), that is rebellious and defiled...She listens to no voice, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the LORD, she does not draw near to her God. Her officials within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves that leave nothing till the morning. Her prophets are wanton, faithless men; her priests profane what is sacred, they do violence to the law."

"'Therefore wait for me,' says the LORD, 'for the day when I arise as a witness. For my decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them my indignation, all the heat of my anger; for in the fire of my jealous wrath all the earth shall be consumed.'"

"Yea, at that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve Him with one accord...For I will leave in the midst of you a people humble and lowly. They shall seek refuge in the name of the LORD,...they shall do no wrong and utter no lies..."

"Sing...shout...rejoice, and exult with all your heart. The King...is in your midst; you shall fear evil no more...I will remove disaster from you, so that you will not bear reproach for it. Behold, at that time I will deal with all your oppressors. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise..." Zephaniah 3

This is part of God's global intelligence report.

"NO GOD, NO PEACE. KNOW GOD, KNOW PEACE."

Andy, have been getting Stratfor's analysis since last spring. Have written several times re y2k. Never an answer. I personally think they are ignoring y2k for the same reason that economists usually do - no way to factor y2k so it would not be an endgame for them, they make big bucks from their analysis teams. btw, if you like Stratfor, go to the Gold Eagle site - many great essays on finance, some y2k direct content. http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials.html - reading all will give a good overview as to why intl economics as soooo important to y2k. And they are a good antidote to the pablum spewed by TV.

Andy,

Mitchell is right to the extent that you don't tell your clients that they are about to go under and there's almost nothing they can do about it...that does NOT lead to repeat customers, you know?

Also, as mentioned previously, there are too variables - not only is y2k a nonlinear function, but it's a totally unpredictable nonlinear function...that being the case, their only alternative is to avoid *any* prediction.

I second that on Gold-Eagle.com, it is a fantastic site! Their commentaries and forum are hardcore economics.

andy,

I third the GOld-eagle sight. GO to the commentaries link. Very good antidote to the worm juice feed by the controlled media.

On a side note:-( Cant even wade through this forum anymore. Its good that awareness is way up but im getting blitzed with to much information. Hang in there. ww
