Canon EOS 1n, 28-70mm 2.8L at 28mm, Fuji Velvia, Polarizer.

Okay at this point I might get my wrist slapped. The image was sepia toned using Photoshop (technique described in photo.net post exposure section). I've just reread the Foundview standards and I cannot determine if Sepia toning is acceptable or not. It regards altering hue as acceptable - I just altered it a lot!!! Bob what's the deal?

Either way this looks better than the colour original as the small tree in the background distracts the eye away from the main subject. It is still a distraction IMHO but less so when in the same colour tone.

Sepia aside, the composition throws me a bit off balance. The tree in the background, in sharp focus, is jammed up against the short branch, and the space to the left is empty. Also, strictly speaking, the flat topped stump in the foreground wouldn't pass the 'no hand-of-man' criteria. I think the sky came out nice, but agina, the juxtaposition of the foreground and the sky doesn't come across to me. I'd stay away from the sepia toning and focus on the fundamentals.
