Very nice portrait, good background and soft, even light works well here. One nit: the focus here seems to be right on the nearest wing and forward, I wonder if the head and especially the eye are in maximum sharp focus.

A well-docuemnted heron! A little more space around it may help it to breathe, especially at the top. The dark leaves make a nice pattern against the brighter area in the background, only trouble is, it bisects the nice "S" curve in the neck of the bird, which weakens the singular powerful graphic element that screams "heron!" by drawing the eyes off the "S" and compelling them horizontally to and fro. Moving the camera a bit to the left may have helped put a uniform dark background behind the subject (the reeds to the right of the image, taller than the subject itself.)
