The US does not live in a vacuum, ergo monumental problems with trade, oil, banking, you name it, next year.

For some reason, this fact continues to get spouted, like it is something that is really going to mean anything -- Y2K will not be fixed, it cannot be fixed. And like Andy points out, we are highly dependent on other countries, so if they fail (and they will), we fail. Finally, its more than how much Y2K fixing you have done, its also how dependent you are on computer based technology! I mean, some tribe in Africa may never reach the Y2K awareness stage (oh dear!), but if they don't use any computer based technology, so what??!!!
