GoodMorning America

Good Morning America interviewed Declan of wired news and paloma of Cassandra project. It was pretty laid back ...but better than the CNN blips. They said 4 weeks at tops probably...but actually said they couldn't see it getting fixed in just a few days. Said many Gov't offices wouldn't be ready..esp the defense dept. At least it was enough to catch someone's attention and maybe make them think. They did say that people should be preparing right now!!! That was positive input.

Herbert:

Your CNN, 5:30PM ( ET ), reference--is this a replay of the GMA interview with Declan and Paloma?

If not, is there a Web site that has the transcript and/or RealAudio of this segment/s?

The ABC affiliate in Detroit ( WXYZ-TV, Channel 7 )--in pushing pigskin mania--preempted GMA for hours and hours of pre-football hype.

TIA!!

I hope they are right, but.....

Why are critical systems that didn't get fixed for years going to get fixed in the 30 days after they fail? Lets imagine some power problems, some panic, some geeks heading for the compound, some (more) poor management decisions, etc, etc... Sure sounds to me like the environment won't be condusive to a quick fix. If we get to a scenario 4, it will either collapse to a scenario 8 or it will remain a 4 for several months and slowly get better. The 30 day scenario is simply unsupported by any logic.

I totally agree RD... 30 days to fix the world's Y2K problems is ridiculous and unsupportable.

Wow i am so glad to see it wont be that long of a wait, to get things fixed, i guess they willsee that when the lights dont work that will make them work hard to fix it so that they can get back to there work.

hehe

question: Why do people keep saying *only* 30 days...

has anyone stopped to figure out the cumulative impact on the economy of a 30 day hiatus? How about the social impact due to the fact that the 30 days in question happen to be JANUARY?, not June...or do the talking heads think that putting "only" in front of it makes it all better somehow?

Panic, Arlin, panic -- or rather hoped for lack of it -- in my opinion.

Don't knock it.......a couple of weeks ago some people would allow as how we ought to be putting away 3 days extra food......"just like a for a small winter snow storm."

Next month they can up the ante to 2 months. "OK, everybody go buy another 30 day supply of food."

By the time 2000 rolls around people will have been told to stockpile for a year -- one month at a time.

Well, Rocky, according to "experts" on CNN, we just need a flashlight and a few candles; we are a resilient people, after all!

Maybe we could all just turn our clocks back to 1972 and we won't notice any problems at all!!:>
