Another nice bird portrait - good full-body shot, nothing is cut off; unobtrusive background; nicely posed. The light is just a little harsh or the contrast of the scan is up a bit compared to the mallard portrait just before ("Greenhead") which I find more pleasing in that respect.

If this shot is cropped, I would like to see the un-cropped shot. If not, the only bad thing I can see is a slight lack of room to paste verbiage as is done in full-page publication.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, this is one of the slides I had a buddy with a pro lab scan for me. All of them were extremely high in contrast and needed lots of correction to bring back. The slide has a much nicer contrast range. As for cropping, this shot is not cropped, but I took about twenty shots of this hawk, slowly moving in closer and changing vertical and horizontal formats. I was careful to get a couple shots similar to this one with plenty of room for paste. Before it was all over, I was able to shoot at my minimum focusing distance of about 5 feet and get some great head and shoulder shots also. He seemed almost as interested in me as I was in him. Rob
