Lane County Directory

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Community Comm : One Thread

In the "Lane Involvement" thread I said, "There are hundreds of little cells forming all over the county. Many are organic, growing out of church, neighborhood, and personal interest groups, and stimulated by attending the LCC class. Nothing is coordinated."

The purpose of this thread is to help "bring a little order" to that condition - to act as a central listing place to make it easier for everyone to navigate and contact others working on y2k in our communities.

If you want to, you can just copy the "form" between the lines off the screen, and use it to add yourself, or your group's contact information, to this directory by clicking the link below that says, "Contribute an answer to Lane County Directory." Then just paste the form into the text entry box that will come up, and fill it in. You can of course add any other perinent information you'd like to. The form is just a basic guide intended to help create basic uniformity. But please bear in mind the purpose of this thread is to create a directory. If, for instance, you have an announcement about something you or your group is doing, please create a new thread at the main level of this Salon/forum for that purpose and "file it" under the "Announcements" category (by clicking the "Ask a Question" link - please read the brief instructions in the "About" section reached by clicking that link on the main level). We'd like to keep the information in this thread as compact as possible, and limited strictly to contact information. The software will automatically insert your email address, so there's no need to include that in your listing. Anyone listed here can be contacted by clicking their email link.

One other thing: If you would like to receive automatic updates of new listings to this directory (as well as most other things added to the Lane County 2000 site), just "add an alert" by either clicking here, or by clicking the link on the main level of this Salon that says, "add an alert." Just type in your email address (and please double-check to make sure it's correct), and tell the software how often you want to receive your updates. If you ever decide you want to stop receiving updates all you have to do is click that same link (on the main level) and tell the software to stop sending them.

I live in Eugene and would like to learn more about and contribute to any ongoing efforts to strengthen communities to provide support in any emergency...including y2k. I'm new here & would welcome any help in getting pointed in the right direction. Thanks, Lynn
