COMPLAN LENS

The outstanding COMPLAN lens for Minox III/IIIs/B was designed by Leitz designer Arthur Seibert. It is a Tessar type 4 element 3 group lens using lantanium glass.

Minox III/IIIs/B and some early Minox C has COMPLAN lens.

Late Minox C and Minox LX/TLX/EC has MINOX lens.

Both COMPLAN and MINOX lens is focused as a unit

COMPLAN lens is also used in Minox enlarger I and II, Minox enlarger III has MINOX lens

The change over from COMPLAN lens to MINOX lens occured during production run of Minox C in year 1970, some where around and above #2322180 ( I don't have the exact number ). MINOX /COMPLAN usually is printed on the metal lens cover when the camera is closed. You can check out which lens by opening the camera and check the pressure plate, COMPLAN lens has a slightly curved pressure plate. Minox B made in 1970-72 (meter and feet models, and gold plated models also have MINOX lens.

A number of Minox B caneras that are marked "Minox" on the lense cover do not have the Minox lense. Out of 8 I have seen marked "Minox", only 2 have a real Minox lense, as identified by the flat film plate.
