WWIII: Y2k Distraction?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

FYI:

After condemning the recent bombing of Iraq as "terrorism", Russia has withdrawn it's ambassadors from the US and Britain. According to Reuters, Albright confirms unusual Russian troop movements, but refuses to speculate on their significance. Albright is so concerned about this that she is going to Moscow to "keep dialog open."

China also condemns the bombing. North Korea claims that it is ready to turn US positions in the region into a "Lake of Fire." South Korea recently sunk a submarine sent from the North (variously reported as a "speedboat").

A lot of people have been saying that our recent brinksmanship, in defiance of the UN Security Council, is a calculated distraction from the spectacle of congress and the executive probing eachother's sexual activity. I'm beginning to think it's the other way around...

Or perhaps WWIII is being planned as a Y2k "out" : better to risk "going out in a blaze of glory" than get caught accidently shooting yourself in the head?

BTW: If you don't hear from me for awhile, it's cause I'm off doing some recon for Santa. Either that, or those pesky piano wire salesmen have finally gotten me to submit to a home demonstration.

Happy Holidays!

E.....I know you are far away, but my significant other is a piano technician...maybe we can throw some pointers your way about piano wire.

You seriously believe that WAR could erupt in the immediate future?

Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Not only do I get to make millions, but there's the chance for military glory as well! ;)

(so I'm an optimist..)

An evil thought--

Is the Pentagon thinking, "Use it or lose it"?

Nah. No way.

WELL!

Thanks E.

So much for Christmas.

Happy "Whatever" everybody.

I'm a little bit afraid that you may be right Tom.

Prediction: nuclear, biological or chemical warfare in mid or far east by May 1999...hmmm.. there's that pesky upside down 666 again...nah...it's just a *coincidence*...

I doubt it is to 'divert' y2k, but I sure am glad we have water stored up. Amthrax is what 'scares' me. I've worked with Iraq people in the past, most do not like America. For all we know, there are plenty of 'terrorists' right here at home, living large on on taxes....What is your thoughts pertaining to those who may be here backing Sadam? I feel we were right to bomb there. It SHOULD have been done when we 1st threatened, but now with Ramadan (opps) we are NOT in a nice position with the Arab world, for sure. I've said it for years, 1 saddam backer + one stick dynomite + one crowded mall = TROUBLE AND DEATH for 'us'. Paranoid? Who me? Realistic. Hubby served in Navy and if 'russsia' heats it up, looks like he'll be going back for awhile as he is still not completely out yet till May of 99. Oh my.

consumer:

You should rest assured, that all military and emergency "First Respondents" are in the process of being duly _protected_ from _Anthrax_ as we write! Have to have _some folks around to bury the dead. ;-)

There, there. Don't you feel better?

( Anyone know how "ordinary" citizens can avail themselves of the Anthrax vaccine? )

E

I have stunned my family and friends by saying similar things. It seems that Sodom has been baiting us to attack him. Why? And Russia knows it might not make it through another winter. Russia has our computer technology which will not work properly after 2k. Makes sense for them to use it now. How about a terrorist attack here on Christmas to get back at our attack on Ramadan? Y2k may turn out to be a haven instead of trouble. b

Russia couldn't find it's you-know-what in the pisser at this point. Next year's NBC warfare will come from the smaller states, perhaps with hardware "borrowed" from the Great Bear people.

Veterinarians have routinely gotten anthrax vaccinations for years. That's all I know about it though.

I now question my sanity for real. Is it perhaps because I have been on this forum too long? I have no clue as what is sensible and what is paranoia anymore...

It's also destroying whatever tackfulness and netiquette I used to have.
