My first Y2k meeting

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just attended my first Y2k meeting. Sad ! A gentleman presented Ed's powerpoint presentation so fast the slides were a blur. He took no questions. Said we could submit them in writing. It gets better. The other guest was from a local alarm company. Her pitch was that their alarms had an 18 hour backup battery rather than just a 12 hour one. Sad, Sad, Sad. Many in attendance seemed more aware than the speakers.

Tom,

Try interesting your local investigative reporters. If we can all heat up the news, locally, then more and more people, will start asking questions, and we may start seeing better Y2K presentations.

Take it from this veteran reporter: if you want y2k coverage, it's worth getting in touch with a reporter at your local newspaper. Email's probably best unless you have a specific Y2K story pitch in mind. (My articles are at http://www.well.com/user/declan/y2k/)
