Dead Live Oak

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Most trees don't like to keep their feet wet for too long as they need oxygen for root metabolism. That's why there are few trees in this Florida flood plain. Taken with a 1950s TL rolliflex.

This tree image doesn't grab me like your others did. Perhaps it's the uninteresting lighting or the starkness of the tree itself. Is this the same tree that was alive in your earlier photos?

The light was as dead as the tree. I thought it might help set the mood. This is a different tree killed by an earlier flood event.

I like this - the flat lighting creates the deathly atmosphere. My only criticism is that the horizon is a bit wonky.

I think the picture is effective in conveying the mood, I like it a lot. Symmetry is nice too. I am not too keen on the top edge of the frame - particularly the upper right corner - bleeding into the white background.
