Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

Green bud, a nice glass of merlot, the blues playing in the background, the glowing fire, rain beating against my roof, thunder and lightening, and my husband by my side.

2 Cor. 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

1 Thes. 4:16-17 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

The first thing in the morning upon awakening I drink at least 2 full glasses of water, the 3rd mixed with fresh apple juice, and I stay regular, if you know what I mean. Without good elimination thoughts are NOT going to keep you going. It is then that thoughts, quotes and the like inspire this human to keep going.

An old timer.

When we graduated from grammer school back in the 50+ years ago, we sang a song that after all these years I still sing, and I am embarrassed to admit I don't know the title. The words are: "When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high...." This music and the words have helped me many times over.

"You'll never walk alone", anthem of one of the Brit. soccer teams.

-- Richard Dale (rdale@figroup.co.uk), November 25, 1998.

Joe,

The song you're wondering about, "You'll Never Walk Alone," was written by Rogers and Hammerstein and is from the Broadway musical "Carousel."

In the U.S., the biggest version of it was by Frank Sinatra in 1945. Judy Garland also had a version of it out in 1946.

The last piece of trivia I can give you about this song is that it's very popular in Liverpool, England.

Joe,

Just yesterday I was at a friends place and Barbra Streisand was singing your song. Moved, I wrote down the words...

When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high, and dont be afraid of the dark.

At the end of a storm is a golden sky, and the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind, walk on through the rain, though your dreams be tossed an blown.

Walk on , walk on, with hope in your heart, and youll never walk alone, youll never walk alone...

Mostly my musical side. Tonight it seems to be the poetry of Graeme Edge:

In the Beginning (Graeme Edge)

First Man: I think, I think I am, I think.

Establishment: Of course you are my bright little star. I've miles and miles of files Pretty files of your forefather's fruit And now to suit our great computer You're magnetic ink.

First Man: I'm more than that, I know I am, At least, I think I must be.

Inner Man: There you go, man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles It riles them to believe that you perceive The web they weave.... and keep on thinking free.

The Word (Graeme Edge)

This garden universe vibrates complete, Some, we get a sound so sweet. Vibrations, reach on up to become light, And then through gamma, out of sight. Between the eyes and ears there lie, The sounds of color and the light of a sigh.

And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe, But it's all around if we could but perceive. To know ultra-violet, infra-red, and x-rays, Beauty to find in so many ways.

Two notes of the chord, that's our full scope, And to reach the chord is our life's hope. And to name the chord is important to some, So they give it a word, and the word is.... OM.

Late Lament (Graeme Edge)

Breathe deep the gathering gloom, Watch lights fade from every room. Bedsitter people look back and lament, Another day's useless energy spent. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one, Lonely man cries for love and has none. New mother picks up and suckles her son, Senior citizens wish they were young.

Cold hearted orb that rules the night, Removes the colours from our sight. Red is grey and yellow white, But we decide which is right. And which is an illusion...

For me it's my faith, my family, and the hope that we're all wrong and a 1-3 is all that will happen.

Sometimes it's the humor of boards like some of these. Not that most of it isn't serious but sometimes it gets me ROFLMAO.

-- Sue (deco100@aol.com), December 01, 1998.

Like Mike Taylor, et al. it's my small children at home that really keep me pressing forward. Everyday I review my prep list and ask, "If it hit today what would I be totally bummed that I didn't get finished?" Then I work on that for the day/week. Only one way to eat this elephant...one bite at a time.
