The Holiday Opportunity

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

many of us will be gathering with our families this week and again in December for the holidays. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get our family members up-to-speed. Next year, at this time, it will be too late.

I am going to use this time to make all communications, cards, and most gifts awareness and preparedness tools.

I have found that many people can grasp the idea of preparing as "Y2K Insurance", even if they can't believe that it will really ever be needed.

Print out Y2K Preparation Checklists (simple ones) and give appropriate tools, supplies, clothing, sleeping bags, and whatever will make the greatest contribution to your loved one's health, safety and well-being.

Any other ideas?

Y2K preparation "gift" baskets? Candles, matches, canned goods, flashlights, solar-powered radio, etc, etc.

Except for my parents, my family would be ROTFLTAO. They don't buy any of this stuff and think I'm WAY over-reacting.

Another thing to remember--this is the last Thanksgiving and Christmas when life will be as we've known it for the last several years. Thanksgiving and Christmas 1999 will be tense times.

Make the 1998 holidays count!
