Race Brook

Race Brook (southwestern MA) in May. Canon Elan II, 28-80, junky tripod. Probably around 2 seconds at f/22 or something close to that.

I like this, in a general way. It doesn't bring up any strong emotions for me, just ones of peace and tranquility. Only 2 comments: The sharp rock and leaf at bottom left contrasts jarringly with the smooth water behind, seperating me from the main object of interest. Also, the area above the rock on the left is a little "dead", moving from the flat water to a dark tree trunk.

That said, I _still_ like this shot.

I like it but I think your at the 35-50 mm end of the lens. Hard to tell since it appears cropped in on the left and right. Zooming a little more would pull the background toward the front and pull the elements together more.

This is a pretty image and the parallel curved tree trunks in the middle distance gives nice balance. However, I found the soft foreground focus jarring. Something as interesting as the little waterfall step, positioned where it is cries to me for sharp focus.

I like the blurred water in the foreground, the rich colors and the two tree trunks in the background that sweep across the frame. Nice composition. The only thing I don't like is the leaf/branch in the lower left which I think is distracting.

Nice job. I like the lovely green highlights on the water and the two parallel fallen trees. You might have been a little more generous on the right and not cut it so close, but maybe not.
