Erratic Metering Cause Found

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

About six months ago I noticed that my TTL meter was not consistant. I thought it was the TTL that was at fault. I removed the TTL, cleaned everything up, but before attaching it, rotated the shutter speed dial and noticed that at certain speeds it would not click into place like the infrequently used speeds did. My conclusion is that after many years of use, I have worn out the contacts in the body of the camera for my most frequently used speeds. I must now turn the dial very slowly to get an accurate reading. This is the first thing that I've worn out on the P67. Be forewarned, the speed dial is delicate. On another subject, when dirt is seen through the TTL, the most common cause is the TTL/body interface not the mirror. SR
