E-mails To The Media Do Work!

Hey guys,

E-mails To The Media Do Work!

I just got a phone call from someone at San Franciscos KRON TV Channel 4 station. He wanted to know why I gave their Monday nights Y2K show a D minus.

Please respond to any TV or newspaper article you see on Y2K and tell them what you think!

My little ole 77-year-old (not 78) WWII veteran WASP pilot mother, is finally getting it!!! Ive showed her countless things on Y2K, the article from Canadas Globe And Mail about the troops mobilizing, discussed the implications of the leaked Scottish Home Office memo in the U.K. until Im blue in the face, and on and on.

Now, because, last night on KRON TV Channel 4 they said there was a problem and here are some survival tips, she is ready to start preparing. Whew! Thanks, KRON. Keep up the good work for all the little young and old people out there!

Diane, I thought the Nov. 10th KRON broadcast with practical "y2k survival tips" was 10 times better than the Monday, Nov.9th airing. Monday night's was very strange with all those scary visuals and then the sound bites that made it sound like there was nothing to worry about-- how schizophrenic. Tuesday's was balanced, calm, and practical. Do you know if they are going to make it a series? If you give me the KRON person's e-mail, I will send him a note as well.

Diane, glad to see that you were able to get your TV stations attention. Here in Florida (Tampa) our CH 13 FOX is alittle slow about talking about Y2K. I have emailed the station and addresses the question of more coverage concerning the situation ,but there was no responce. Of course the 10'O clock news people are just " readers" not really journalists. Premadonna's of the news world. But I have come up with an idea to get their response to answer; CH 13 Fox does have a "Consumer Lawyer",perhaps a question to him would be a good start?? Like: Would a consumer like me have a case if the businesses I deal with ran out of goods that would have helped me in preparing for a long term shutdown of services, like utilities, banking those type of things? Because I was not informed by your TV station??? Diane what do think about this idea, would you try it? I know it's hairbrained but you don't know just how many people down here in Tampa are uninformed, it's like don't bother me with that,"They'll fix it" typical answer, to our knowing what is going on! Maybe the "Consumer Lawyer" would think it would be a great article to at least talk about? Unless the TV censors will omit it from broadcasting ?

Furie,

Try every angle your intuition leads you to follow. We never know where we'll find the chinks in the big media business armour. What I find funny is that giving the Y2K television program a "D minus" is what got their attention, not my comments on their station's programming slant.

Funny, what will cause a reaction!
