Memory Allocated to SQL server

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SQL Server Database Administration : One Thread

Eric,

Can you tell me how much memory I should allocate to SQL server if the total memory on the server is 1gb? In the administrator's companion, microsoft only specifies up to 464 mb if you have 512 mb of RAM total.

Thanks for you help.

Kimberley,

I would give 128 MB to NT (a generous, but not extravagant amount) and the rest to SQL. Or perhaps the way to say it is 996 MB to SQL and the rest to NT.
