TEAM ROLE BALANCE: COMMENTS, ANYBODY ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : work teams : One Thread

Belbin writes about team role balance and how balanced teams are going to be more successful than non-balanced teams. Through my thesis, I found that the team that was balanced in terms of team roles was more successful in a management competition than the others. Unfortunately, my database was to small to make generalisations. I do realise that other factors, such as situational factors (stress, for example) may change the type of role that a person might adopt over time. What other problems are there with team roles? Is personality really important to determine whether a person in a team or the team, overall, will be successful? If anybody has references to communicate to me regarding those questions, I would be most grateful. Some thoughts based on experience, would also be welcome. Thank you to anybody taking the time to reply. Sonia Barthelmebs.
