Dalton McGuinty will repeal Bill 160Ontario Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty has made a series of commitments to improve education in Ontario. He says he will make education a priority. Here's a list of his education commitments so far:
- Repeal Bill 160
- Stop the cuts
- Fight the Harris privitization agenda
- Reinstate junior kindergarten across Ontario*
- Fully fund adult education
- Provide for local flexibility
- Remove the ability for the Minister of Finance to set $6 billion in education property taxes behind closed doors
- Ensure that parent councils have an advisory role in their schools
- Restore the status of principals and vice-principals
- Ensure special grants for school boards to provide improved high school courses on families, parenting, nutrition and child development as part of an adult education program*
- Adequate funding to meet needs
- Implement the $249 million commitment to education initiatives made in First Steps*
