There are a number of good, specific solutions for specific types of Y2K related issues. Your friend may be correct for his/her specific tiny little corner of the Y2K universe. The problem is, there is no single solution for 'the Y2K problem'. It's really a much, much larger problem than that.

I suggest you begin your research by visiting any Internet search engine and searching for "Y2K and SILVER and BULLET". Read 20-30 articles, then you will begin to understand the scope and size of the problem.

Beware of advertising. Any company that claims they 'have the solution to Y2K' (i.e. the whole problem) either does not understand the problem or they are just pushing hype (for example, see Oracle's web site for a good example of this)
