Cactus Flower: Film: Kodachrome 64, Pentax LX 50mm 1.4 lens+extension tubes. The final exposure was about 1-1/2 stops over the center-weighted normal exposure with a very shallow depth-of-field.

That looks real cute, like something you could sell to teenaged girls as a poster for their walls.

BTW. I like K64 too, it's an amazing film.

I admire your vision.

Do you have a website?

Thanks for the inspiration.

Keith: Thanks for the compliment. It means a lot to me. This kind of photography does not inspire everyone and I know it (this image is more than 20 years old!). I am glad you like it. I do not have a web site per say; however; http://www.spotmetering.com has most of my images that you have seen on this forum. It is new (about two weeks old) and I am constantly revising it. I hope that you enjoy it. Please note that it is a commercial site (.com) for my book about on- camera spotmetering. For those of you who do not like commercial sites, please do not go there! Thanks again.

This is a difficult image to critique. The usual criteria for critique are missing, and that forces the viewer to accept it as an abstract image. As such, my very subjective opinion is that I like it fine but it doesn't hold my attention very long.

Barbarba...this could be a Geogia O'Keeffe painting! Amazing!

Bahman..sorry about the name error...the photo is still nice.

-- Meade Kelly (kelly@clipper.net), October 24, 1998.

Dear Meade, don't worry. I have also been called Batman, Barman, Bowman amongst many other names in my life! You can call me anything you want as long as you compare my work to Georgia O'Keeffe's! American Photo gave me one of their six top awards in 1996 out of 41000 images and had my name backwards. I did not care as long as they gave me a two-page spread. Many thanks for the compliment.

The complete lack of focus does not appeal to me. Just because it looks more like a painting than a photograph does not make it "great art" in my opinion. I do however like the shapes and colors (what else is there?!?) of this picture and probably would like it enough to put it on my wall if it were indeed an acryl or watercolor painting!

Bahman,

Nice picture. I like the colour. I would like to have a small insect somewhere in this picture.

Too artistic.
