Dismissed court cases

greenspun.com : LUSENET : 1998 Guam Elections : One Thread

By the end of the year, the Attorney General's Office will have dropped 600 cases. They have dropped 300 so far, filed for the dismissal of 300 in the last 3 weeks. To quote Ginger Cruz, "The timing of it seems suspect."

DPW recently paid a contractor $25,000 to renovate a private residence. A private home. Nearly a $100,000 for the furniture. We heard the first lady say the furniture was donated.

Where do we apply for the "Phone Crew"?

Supreme Court ruling in Palomo vs Superior Court/AGs Office could lead to the dismissal of 1,100 felony cases and 800 misdemeanors in 1998. Rapes, Robberies, Domestic Violence, Assaults, DUI with Injuries, Felony Gun charges.

What happened to Justice for victims of crime? What if it was your daughter? Would we care then? Would we want to DO something then?

So do the math:

So far in 1998 629 cases have been dismissed by the Superior Court at the request of the AG's Office.

By the end of 1998, 1,900 cases, including 1,100 felonies.

1900 +629 ---- 2529.

Of course, that's the most cases in the history of Guam, according to AG Bob Kono himself.

Somebody, please do something. It could mean votes.

Case Dismissals

1996 Less than 20

1997 Around 50

1998 2,529.

The "justice" person stated:

By the end of 1998, 1,900 cases, including 1,100 felonies.

Is that your estimation or is it the AG's office? If this is true it sure a good year to be a crook. Right Karl?

It was the AG's office estimate, according to the PDN article. The AGs office said in addition to the 652 already dismissed, there's another 1,100 felonies and 800 misdemeanors about to be dismissed. Great year to be a crook. Or a politician who did favors for the crooks' families for votes.
