P67 II info

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

I just can't contain myself! I can't wait to see the new 67II in the flesh. I was about to go for a Nikon F5, but now I think I will wait for the new beast to hit the shops. The B&H web site (www.bhphotovideo.com) has a page for the new 67 with some specs and a decent picture of it. No price yet (cringe).

A 67 with a built in spot, center weighted and 6 segment matrix meter, Lithium batteries, LCD panel (!), viewfinder display, right hand grip built in . . . ooh la la.

Somewhere else on the internet I saw estimates of a $2,000+ price range. This wasn't from any "official" source though, just what someone heard at Fotokina. The camera certainly sounds enticing. I do wish Pentax had done something about the 1/30 flash synch speed but otherwise it sounds like a great camera.

If I were to have made a guess, it would have been about that price WITH the finder. If so, that is a big jump from the old model, but to me a price worth paying. Just the right amount of updating without a ton of crap you dont need (except maybe for the high speed flash sync-which I don't need).

Anyone heard when it may be available? I think early 99. We'll see.
