A couple months ago, some posters challenged me to do something via AARP to get seniors aware of, and involved with, Y2K. On October 8, I will be giving a presentation to the Tacoma, WA AARP chapter. I had never gone to one of their meetings, but in August I went, spoke to a Board member (she knew zilch about Y2K), Emailed her an outline, she presented it at a Board meeting, they accepted, and she told me they are "enthusiastic" about my doing so. I will be allotted 30 minutes, will speak 20, then open it up to Q&A. (Thankfully, I have done a fair amount of public speaking.) I'm preparing a list of Resources to be copied and handed out to them (books, websites, Email address, phone numbers, etc.) so I won't have to take time during my talk. I will have tapes from the Atlanta Y2K Preparedness Expo for them to purchase at the price I paid--$1.00 each. (Call 1-800-289-2646 for tapes) Now, I challenge you: Go to your AARP, Rotary, Elks, Lions, etc., and offer to do the same! If this great granny can do it, so can you!

He has an execellent PowerPoint presentation already prepared on Y2k. It will save you preparation time and effort.

Use your own expereinces to discuss Y2K with the AARPer's (sp?), but print Steve's presentation as "leave behind". Powerpoint will let you print the presentation directly to a laser printer, then you can copy selected pages (or the whole thing) at Kinkos's (or whereever). Hint: use the summary option, which puts several slides on the same page in small sizes to save copying costs.

Steve's presentation is an excellent tool; he has done his homework. For those who don't have Microsoft PowerPoint, there is a free PowerPoint Viewer available for download.
