Lovely and delicate. You have clearly studied with the masters.

Welcome to the forum, Deb! I like this shot quite a bit. There are a few distracting things going on (brown twig in the upper right hand most noticeably), and I would like to see the tips of the leaves to the imediate left and right of the bloom. Anyway, an overall good start for you here! Maybe a close-up shot of these blooms would be nice?

This is a critique forum, so don't be put off by overcritical comments: It's an OK snapshot, but really has nothing to set it apart from the mass of such snapshots. There are distracting elelments (dark twigs, light spots), the color is rather dull and dark and the composition is neither quite symetrical, nor far enough from symetrical to be interesting.

Ask yourself why you took the shot, and if it conveys the feeling you had when you took it. If you don't really know why you took the shot (other than just to "get" a picture) or it doesn't convey what you intended to convey, then its a sign you need to try again.

I agree the twig in the upper right corner is (a little) distracting. However, I like the background and surroundings very much. I would have placed the blossom a little more to the right; it's not at the center, but not really off-center either, if you know what I mean. The picture has a bluish cast, which is probably due to scanning or differences in monitor settings.

I think this is a beautiful picture.

This is what I call an almost "wowie." It's so close to being great, but it's somehow a little flat. Needs slightly diferent lighting. It may be my moniter, but I don't notice the twigs, etc.

I wonder whether this image can be shot from an even closer distance. That will isolate the tulip more and eliminate some of the distracting elements. Moreover, I would shoot it from a higher angle to show a bit more of the inside of the flower. Of course, the environment might not let you shoot from a closer and higher angle though.
