Non Compliant y2k/ toolbox

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Mac Software : One Thread

While apple has always known the century was ending, not all software vendors have been so enlightened. If they did not use the Toolbox calls properly (written into the Mac ROM) then there may be problems. I need to find a list of these programs, if they exist, for my Y2K site. Any information would be helpful! Kat

I'm afraid you're going to be out of luck with this request. I'm the publications manager for a software company that publishes Windows NT network management and Year 2000 tools. We have four full-time people researching Y2k compliance. Asking someone to give you the results of that research is a long stretch. Don't take this personally, because it is a business decision. Our Y2k knowledgebase is a key competitive advantage, and we have spent tens of thousands of dollars developing that advantage.

You could try contacting vendors yourself, but what you will mostly learn is how difficult it is to get information out of them, and how many there are to contact. I will give you one hint though, start with Microsoft and Intuit.

Now that I've jumped in here and told you that you can't get the information (after waiting six weeks to see if anyone else would find it) one of our salesmen just told me about this site.

I haven't delved deeply into this site, but if the information is available it should be there. Good luck.
