Crabspiders?! making more crabspiders.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

Saw another spider shot here and got inspired to post mine aswell. Caught these two one early morning when I was out shooting. Nikon F90X with 60mm micro-nikkor, tripod and velvia.

Thanks all. Magnus.

Yup, looks like crabspiders on a date. I have a problem with the composition; the flower is not the subject, yet it's given near-central placement in an approximately square frame, which emphasizes it too much. But the spiders look great.

I don't have any problem with the relative sizes and placement of the flower and the spiders, but I think I would rather have seen the larger female in a better view and just seen the male in a side view. That way the fact that she is a spider would be more obvious; as it is, it may be hard for a viewer unfamiliar with the crab spiders to identify that mottled whitish blob at first sight or without an explanation.

Nice image.

Boy, I wouldn't like to be a spider. With some species, after the act, the female kills her boyfriend who become her next meal. This gives me the creeps! :-)
