Wow! Great picture. You got the shutter speed just right to make the waterfalls look like they're hanging from the cliff. One thing, though -- the picture doesn't inspire me to want to go swimming in that green goop. Oh, and I'd like to see the composition nudged up just a little tiny bit higher, so we can see more of what's above the waterfall. Just a little tiny bit.

to Steve: There was nothing interesting above the waterfalls, only distracting white sky among the trees - so I didn't want have it on this picture. I have another (bigger) SCAN, there is a little bit more space at the bottom (I cropped both picture independent and I think that the bigger is better ...)
About green goop ... The water is absolutly pure. You can see the bottom even to the deep of several metters. It is problem of only two dimensions of classic photos. The green color is because of green flora at the bottom. Be sure the swimming in such water is really great romantic experience :-).
Thanks for your comments.

Very very nice. I suspected by the bit of horizon that's showing that you cropped for the most impact. You're lucky to have had the opportunity to vist such a truly mystical place. Thanks for sharing this with us.

The cropping is unusual. Care to share the technical details? Was this taken on APS film? I don't recognize the X-700 camera off hand...

As for the green water, it's simply the foliage reflecting in the water. We see that effect in the mountain streams in the Cascade mountains of the Pacific NW. It's a sign of the purity and also a factor of lighting. It is unusual, and the first time you see it in person it is a little strange till you realize what it is...

Keith, thanks for your comment.
Minolta X-700 is normal manual focus 35mm SLR. You can see details about this camera on The Minolta X-700 Page.
The picture was taken on the lower end of my zoom (35mm) and scanned from the print 10*15cm (film Kodak Gold 100, paper Kodak Royal). It was cropped from the bottom. I prefer this composition with vertical lines of the waterfalls contrasting with the wide format.

This is a good image, but when viewed through my cropping aid, I find that there are two images I like better - one with the dead log near the right border and one with it on the left.

Frank,

Thanks for the good idea. The composition of your suggestions is probably better. I will try to make it on the prints in future, but I must say I am really fascinated by this wide format ...
