greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

Hi, I am a high school student very interested in photography. I have a dark room at school and have been developing for a while but I am having trouble. I need step by step insructions on how to develop and print b+w film. I am supposed to teach other students the process and i would like to be a little bit more informed. Thanks for your help.

"KODAK Black & White Darkroom DATAGUIDE" is an excellent resource. Its a 6x9 inch spiral book that has everything you need to know, step-by-step, about developing and printing - its about $14 (try find a used edition). It is KODAK's publication, so you need to expect emphasis on KODAK product. Also, and importantly, the processes it describes are archivally sound.

Keep it simple - good luck.

Also the books by Ansel Adams, and many others. Also see: http://www.photogs.com/bwworld/bwresources.html

Next steps on process of printing B&W film

The other responses were great and I have another idea. Peterson Photographic prints many books on photography, and I used to have one, (gave it to a beginner friend), which detailed all the steps necessary. If you can find one, new or used book store, you may find it invaluable.
