I come to "these" y2k-type forums because I enjoy seeing how silly some people can be when it comes to things they don't understand. Everything is beginning (now that it's past 7/1/98, supposedly) to be blamed on y2k...credit cards being rejected, "suspicious" credit card operators not giving out information about y2k problems. But, it makes sense to me. I'm a Network Analyst, and once we have a network problem it takes days before the Help Desk crew quits blaming everything on that network problem.

My opinion? Yes, it will be a small pop rather than a loud bang.

Also I think you people underestimate the survival skills of the American company. The electric company has made obscene profits off you in the past and they intend to continue doing that. Of course they can't do that if their equipment stops working. They know that, they aren't stupid. We do have Ed and people like him to thank for bringing this to the awareness of companies, if not the general public. Speaking as a computer programmer, I know that if I see a Year 2k bug I am not likely to mention it, because you know what happens next! The boss says "Fix it then". Who's watching the programmers? Who told on us? Ed Yourdon, Peter De Jagar, etc. You will owe a huge debt to them for that.

Ya, I really underestimate the survival skills of the American company. Take Chrysler for instance..selling out to Diamler Benz. And how about TCI dumping their problem on AT&T? These companies sure know a lot about survival. The rats are leaving.

AT&T stock took a nose dive. TCI, I can tell you was no prize! We are cancelling our cable as soon as we get our next bill! Tired of stupid sitcoms that insult my intelligence, tired of commericals every 2 minutes, and tired of being spoon fed liberal and bias news! I always watched jeopardy, but Alex is even boring and it seemed like he insulted his guests whenever they missed an answer! The internet is much more entertaining and educational! Wouldn't have found out about Y2K without my computer! So, when TSHTF, is guess we'll all got back to sitting by the radio...a BayGen radio that is!
