Sorry to focus on the macabre, but I am working on a historical mystery novel set in SF in June, 1905.

I understand that public executions were performed by hanging in 1905, but I cannot find out where they were conducted. Any ideas anyone?

The sources I have looked through all indicate that executions, by hanging, were done up at San Quentin prison.
