How big a generator is needed? What is the best water purification system? Is there any water that cannot be purified? Where can I get one? Where do I find a manual pump with which I can extract gasoline from underground gas station tanks? Is dog food good to eat? Is veteranary grade medicine ok to use? I would like a brain storm session on this question because I am sure I have forgotten a lot of details.

Bill, The size of your generator will depend on what you want to use it for. Most generator companies will indicate on the box or literature what various appliances need to operate. A thousand watt unit, for example would lite ten 100 watt bulbs. Figure your needs and take it from there. I found that a 5000 watt unit will take care of my basic needs. Remember, too; the larger the unit, the more fuel you have to store.

Hi Bill, a girl that works for me uses vet medicines every now and then. She has worked for me for years. We have a major vet supplier open to the public in our town. These medications seen to work well and quickly. Penicillin is a good example. She understands the dangers of it's over or under useage. I am convinced certain Herbs work well. They need to be fresh, and not all are effective. It would be a good idea to get together with someone who has had actual experience with Herbs, and who is not wanting to sell them to you. Why, oh why, eat dog food? Get a grinder, so wheat berries, bean, rice ect. Store what you eat, and eat what you store. Honey and sugar store a very long time, as does salt, and soy sauce. Start somewhere, one day at a time. Dry fruits, plant a garden if you can. Store spaghetti, sauce and tuna as the time gets closer. Oatmeal would be much tastier than dogfood as well. Keep smiling and planning, Abigayle P.S. Wheat berries from your local gainmill (feed Store) can be frozen, stored, and but in tight containers for many years. This is much cheaper than dog food, and has more uses
