What were the boundaries of Cow Hollow?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I am interested in how Cow Hollow got its name, what its boundaries were, and who owned property in that area between 1850 and 1920.

There is a good book called "Cow Hollow, Early Days of a San Francisco Neighborhood from 1776" by John L. Levinsohn. You may be able to get a copy of it from Argonaut Bookstore in San Francisco. If not, drop me a line.

William Kostura has an excellent article on Cow Hollow in the Spring 1998 (Vol. 9 No. 1) issue of the Argonaut, the journal of the San Francisco Historical Soceity. The 6th floor History Center in the SF main library has a copy. You will be blown away by his scholarship.
