I read in a Titanic fan's webpage that Titanic will be released on video in June. I was wondering if you or anyone else has heard anything about it. The person said that they have a relative who works in the business who told them. Right now I think it is just a rumor..Please e-mail me if you hear anything else about it.. Thanks, Summer

Actually, I think this is doubtful, since there's a strong chance that Titanic will be playing in second-run or even first-run theaters at that point. There seems to be more indication of a late fall/holiday release to synchronize with those holiday gifts that need to be bought....

Its seems that since the film has such great lasting showings, that the hoildays around xmass( December) will be the release date period, according to many titanic sites Ive visited.

A local video/music store here has a sign posted: "Titanic out on video in September, reserve your copy today!"

I work for Blockbuster Corp. and we get alot of mail and schedules for video release dates that others don't know about. I can put this to rest once and for all that Paramount has announced that the Titanic will be out for rental sometime in June. But to buy it for your own personal viewing you will have to wait until Christmas time for the VHS version unless you want to pay $100! The only way you'll get it around the time of release is if you purchase it on Divx, the pay-per-view DVD disc. Paramount hasn't "officially" announced this to the public because they dont want the people to stop parading to the movies and stop filling their pockets there. Instead they want it to be a "Titanic 98" where the movie rules the theatres in winter and spring quarter, the rental in summer/fall, and the video in winter. The "official" announcement would hurt their movie business because people will save their money and stop going to the theatres since the video would be out in June. So get ready to hit your local video stores in June, because it's gonna be a "Titanic" crowd rushing to grab a copy!

It's confirmed! Titanic will come out on video in SEPTEMBER! Here at Blockbuster (who is owned by Viacom and Viacom also owns Paramount who holds the rights to Titanic) we are already preselling Titanic for 24.99 on VHS 29.99 on DVD! Yes it is coming out on DVD! DVD will have extra footage and will of course show a lot more than the VHS! So everyone get to your local Blockbuster Video stores and reserve your copy today!
