165LS basics:

I like mine for portraits (ususally 1/60 around f8) and it works great, I think the 105 lens may be a little sharper, but that's just opinion, not based on any tests. Average used price seems to be around $650 for excellent condition.

Just make sure to set the body shutter speed to 1/8 sec or slower. The lens has its own PC terminal for studio flash. f-stop markings are f4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, 32. There are detents half way between these except for 4 to 5.6 and 22 to 32. Distance scale goes from 1.6 m to 30/infinity or 5.5ft to 100/infinity.

It is possible to accidentally change the shutter speed while cocking the leaf shutter. This is not a problem if you are familiar with the lens. It just happened once when I had my wife take pictures and I forgot to tell her the cocking ring and the shutter-speed rings are stacked next to each other.

Sorry if this message appears twice, I bumped a few keys and strange things happened. (wish I had a Mac)
