Welcome to 3D Audio's SSS Temp Forum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : 3D Audio's Music Business Forum (SSS Temp) : One Thread

For all of us who have been displaced by the closing of the AOL SSS Forum, this will be the temporary site for questions, answers, and just general discussion. Welcome to all. It's an open house. Any topics of discussion are encouraged, from technical to musical, equipment to inspiration, even blowing off steam or sharing jokes. Knock yourself out. By the way, please check out the "Read Me First" folder for important info about the way that the threading and posting works on this system. It will help to introduce you to this new home.

We will hope that the new incarnation of the SSS forum is up and running soon. For updates on the new SSS, or if you don't know what SSS is, check in at 3D Audio's web site. The URL is >http://www.3daudioinc.com<. Look for the "SSS Homeless Shelter." There is a brief history and overview there.

The aforementioned URL would be (without the negating brackets this time) http://www.3daudioinc.com.

I'm looking for a couple of suggestions for live mic usage. I'm working with a female singer who has a great but small voice. Are there other options for capturing a great voice in a fairly loud (bass, keys, guitar and drums) scenario other then the typical Sure SM58 or Beta 58? I have an AKG 414, Rode NT2 and a Stedman mic at my disposal. Any suggestions?

Well, here we are for now? What's going on with infinitemusic.com?

The nice thing is not having to delete four hundred spam smut emails every time I sign on.

This is another experiment to see if I can add someone to the email posts list, without them actually being here, someone with no internet access.

Craig and all, It occured to me after going to the AOL Pro audio ads and the rec.audio.pro board that there may be a pleasanter way to post ads. The AOL board is about 95% filled with the same merchandise or dealers each day. If you're to have a used/FS category maybe there a few constraints that can be imposed. 1. Limit the # of posts per month per subscriber, say 3 or 5. If more than that -----> 2. Have a separate Pro audio dealers section. A dealer can post forever, get ad space etc. You might want to get an modest advertising fee too. You'll need to make it interesting since God knows nobody wants to see those same ads every day. Perhaps include in the same area: A. A reference table for new and used gear prices. (This may cut down on some bickering, though I doubt it) B. Categorize equipment fs. If you're looking for a neumann km184 you can go to the neumann site. C. Have a discussion group that shows up in the same window. I don't know how much policing or setup work this would require. It would be a better way to deal with if possible. thanks Henry Shapiro

It has taken me almost two months but I finally made it to the SSS Temp Site c/o 3dAudio/Lynn "Tex" Fuston. The www is a bit clunkier than AOL's in-house operation but don't cry over stale lasagna. Good to be here.

I've been re-reading some of the old archived SSS posts, and I must admit that there was a certain "something" about the collection of wit and technology and personalities and opinions that made it very special. I miss it a lot.

Lynn,

I don't want to sound Polyanna, but I do believe we'll get that back and more once we have a different kind of site, and Craig's regular participation again. I love the fact that you've set this up, and I'll keep using it until the next step emerges.
