Rose's portrait : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread

I am really not sure about this but I think somewhere I saw a show on the Titanic and they were showing artifacts recovered from the ship. I might just be making this up in my imagination but I seem to remember them showing a drawing that was was on the ship and it looked a lot like that picture of Rose. Does anyone know if this is real? If so please let me know this has really been bothering me. Thanks.

It must have been a coincidence, Jack and Rose are both fictional characters. Though there was a 3rd class seventeen year old named Jack Thayer, who survived.

Not to be picky, but Jack Thayer was a FIRST class passenger. His father was John B. Thayer, Vice-President of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

I read somewhere that James Cameron drew that picture of Kate himself. He must be so talented.

I doubt the picture is real, but that would be really cool if it was. Are you guys sure Rose was fictional as well as Jack? I figured Jack was all made up, but not Rose. Oh, this whole story was in the 1940 version of Titanic, too, I think. Does anyone know? Cameron must be really talented if he drew that portrait of Kate(Rose). That's a really good drawing.

In the book James Cameron's Titanic, it says that James Cameron himself drew the picture of Rose as well as all the other drawings.

Annie :) :) :)

And I read somewhere that in the scene where Jack is drawing Rose, those are Cameron's hands doing the drawing when they zoom in on the sketch. (I think that was in Newsweek? I'm not sure.)

They were Cameron's hands. Incidentally, Cameron is left handed and Leo is right handed. Also, Rose is a fictional character, although Cameron named her after his maternal grandmother.

Yes, both jack and Rose were made fictional characters. However, there was a real J. Dawson on the Titanic. He worked in the boiler rooms and died when the ship went down. His Body was recovered after the sinking. Also, there was a woman named Rose on the Titanic when it sank and she survived and eventually married a man named Dawson. So in a round about way Rose and J. dawson were on the ship:)
