Commuter Chronicles at the SF Chronicle ...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Transit First San Francisco : One Thread

When we began the project, we figured there would be more interest in highways than public transit, because most people drive to work. It hasn't turned out that way. Our audiences have been far more interested in discussing public transit systems in the hope of making them a full-fledged alternative to the automobile. Indeed, if there is one major finding from our research, it is that Bay Area residents believe that the highways can be expanded only so far and that for the Bay Area to avoid choking on its prosperity, it must improve its public transit systems. --``Commuter Chronicles'', December 22, 1997

I think that the ``Commuter Chronicles'' series has been a good one and hope that you keep up your focus on public transportation in the Bay Area. I also hope that people will continue to send letters and email.
