pices (ie. food, houseing, clothing) in 1890

I was wondering if anyone could give me a list of pices (ie. food, houseing, clothing) in 1890. Also I was wondering if you could give me some idea of the pay of people at this time. I'm trying to get an idea of life at that time, so comparing the cost of liveing with peoples pay would be helpful. Thanks ;)

Response to Price list

That's a very intersting question. Off the top of my head, I would say you might find housing costs (especially rental costs) in the newspaper (SF Call, or SF Chronicle). They are on film at the SF Public, and U.C. Berkeley Newspaper Libra- ries.* There MAY be a little about food cost, though they didn't have the big grocery ads we have today, and wages (in classifieds for employment). Have fun. *among others

This site is full of links to Victorian era history sites, many of which have information on the Victorian era economy in America:
