What type of job outlook is there for the field of Sports Psychology? Will there be a special degree needed for this field? What will the demand for those in this field be like in 10 years

The field of applied sport psychology continues to grow and will be an exciting place to be during the next decade. Already, professional sport psychology organizations, such as the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), are trying to define what the ideal training criteria are for people interested in the field. As for jobs, what you are able to do will depend a great deal on the type of training you have received. Currently, there are only a handful of full-time sport psychology positions. The hope among members of the field is that will increase as more athletes and coaches come to see the value of mental preparation. For more information on the field, I suggest you carefully look over the information on this website as well as explore the links to other sport psychology organizations. Good luck.
