toners that work on plastic paper? (RC Paper question)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Hello, everyone.

Question: which other toners work on plastic papers, besides Kodak Sepia? I have tried Agfa Viradon Brown, with no results, and I don't think that Kodak Rapid Selium is a hit either. Any suggestions? I know that some toners are just for preserving the prints better, but I'm particularly interested in changing the tone of the pics (possibly to something else than just brown).

PS: I know that most (or even all) toners work on fiber, but I just prefer working on plastic.

Thanks a lot,

ulix

toners and RC paper

Kodak selenium, Agfa virdon and Kodak sepia all work well on Ilford MG RC paper but did not work well on Kodak Polycontrast RC.

Response to toners that work on plastic paper?

I use Kodak Rapid Selenium on RC paper dilution 1:20 just for slight increase of D-max and permanence. Tried up to 1:3 with no significant tone change (ILFOSPEED). On the oder hand all gelatin toners work well on RC papers.

Berg Toners

I have used a sepia toner that is specifically designed for RC papers. It's made by a company called Berg and it's pretty much the same as any other sepia process: you bleach and then you tone. Results were good and there is an added bonus - there's no smell! Berg makes a variety of toner colours but I have only tried the sepia.
